Australia vs Proteas 1st test preview

The 1st test of Australia vs Proteas test series starts tomorrow. Australia have revealed their playing eleven for the match. This is going to be a very high-stakes series will the World test Championships final position up for grabs.

Australia will be looking to continue their momentum by beating West Indies 2-0. The Australians will definitely be the favourites to start off. Proteas won't be an easy opponent as they have, the best record against Australia in tests in the recent past winning three back-to-back test series in Australia.

Proteas Squad this time only consists of 4 players who have toured Australia before, they are Elgar, Bavuma, Rabada and Maharaj. The rest are on their 1st tour of Australia and will be looking to make the most of this opportunity as this could be their 1st and last tour of Australia. A player like De Bruyn and Klassen will look to make the most of this opportunity as this series marks their return to the Proteas test squad.

Proteas players in the past have done very in Australia on their 1st tour and fans will be hoping for more of the same from this lot of players. Australian conditions are very similar to the conditions back in South Africa and therefore SA teams have always found it easier to adapt to conditions and I will hope for the same to happen this time.

Players on both sides have gained some timely form. The Australians playing a 2-match series against West Indies. Proteas playing gained game time playing 2 rounds of domestic cricket in SA and a warmup match in Australia in lead up to this series.

I expect this series to be a hard-fought series between both teams and could see both teams' batsmen and bowlers battling it out fiercely.

I think SA will stick to 5 bowlers' combination for this series and trust 5 batsmen and a wicketkeeper at No6.

Australia Team 1: David Warner, 2: Usman Khawaja, 3: Marnus Labuschagne, 4: Steve Smith, 5: Travis Head, 6: Cameron Green, 7: Alex Carey. 8: Pat Cummins, 9: Mitchell Starc, 10: Scott Boland, 11: Nathan Lyon

Proteas Predicted 11:  1: Dean Elgar, 2: Sarel Erwee, 3: Rassie van der Dussen, 4: Temba Bavuma/Theunis de Bruyn, 5: Khaya Zond/ Heinrich Klassen, 6 Kyle Verreynne, 7: Marco Jansen, 8: Keshav Maharaj, 9: Kagiso Rabada, 10: Arich Nortje, 11: Lungi Ngidi

Proteas vs India 2nd test Day 1 review

The second test match between Proteas and India kicked off on a high note with the hosts putting up a horrendous batting performance on day 1. The Proteas team won the toss and elected to bat first, but they failed to make the most of the opportunity as the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the home team's batting line-up bowling them out for 55. Mohammed Siraj was the chief destroyer with 6 wickets for 15 runs in 9 overs. He was equally supported by Mukesh and Bumrah both taking 2 wickets each.  The Indian team lost their first wicket early on, with Jaiswal departing for a duck. The rest of the top-order batsmen struggled to get going as well, and the team was bowled out for 153. However, a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Markram helped the home team to 62-3 at stumps to steady the ship.  It was an excellent day for bowlers on both sides as 23 wickets fell for 270 runs.  The Proteas bowlers, led by Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, were impressive after t...

Pakistan vs Australia 2nd test Day 1 review

Australia and Pakistan faced off in the second Test match at MSG. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors started well with opening bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza getting the ball to move off the seam. However, the Australian batter struck back with a good opening partnership of 90 runs. Australia finished the day at 187/3 off 66 overs as rain played spoilsport, with Hasan Ali, Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal the pick of the bowlers. It was a tough day for the Pakistani bowlers as they struggled to cause Australian bowlers for long enough periods at a time, but they will look to bounce back on Day 2. The Australian batsman will be aiming to put up a big total for their bowlers to bowl too. Overall, it was an exciting day of Test cricket and fans can look forward to more action in the coming days.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar
