Proteas vs New Zealand 2nd test preview

The 2nd test between Proteas and New Zealand starts today with New Zealand leading the series.

This match has a lot at stake with history to be made for New Zealand who are looking to win their first-ever test series against Proteas. There is also WTC points to play for and the Proteas 2nd string team has a point to prove.

The Blackcaps will be hoping they can carry forward the momentum into the 2nd test and continue to be relentless on this inexperienced Proteas side and create a historic moment in their cricketing history. They will make 2 changes to their starting 11 one strategic bringing in the 4th pacer in place of the spinner and one forced with Daryl Mitchell out injured.

The Proteas on the other hand have a lot to play for especially the middle-order batters as they can stake a claim to be more permanent members of the first-choice side who are looking for batting options around Bavuma and Markram after the Proteas new management last year in February took the brave decision to move on from the older players and look to build a team with the youngsters for a stronger test future for the Proteas.

The Proteas will want to avoid losing their historic record and hope they can produce a performance to remember and level the series 1-1. A win will not only keep Proteas record against the Blackcaps intact it will also give them a boost in the WTC standings. The Proteas might make 1 change to their starting lineup but I don't see them changing the balance of the team and going with a similar 11 to the 1st test.

My predicted 11s for this test

Proteas : Neil Brand (c), Eddie Moore, Ryan Van Tonder, Zubayr Hamza, David Bedingham, Keegan Petersen, ,Ruan De Swardt, Clyde Fortuin, Dunne Oliver\Mihlali Mpomgwana, Dane Paterson, Tshepo Moreki

New Zealand: Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Will Young, Glenn Phillps, Tom Blundell, Tim Southee(c), Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner\Neil Wagner

Proteas vs India 2nd test Day 1 review

The second test match between Proteas and India kicked off on a high note with the hosts putting up a horrendous batting performance on day 1. The Proteas team won the toss and elected to bat first, but they failed to make the most of the opportunity as the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the home team's batting line-up bowling them out for 55. Mohammed Siraj was the chief destroyer with 6 wickets for 15 runs in 9 overs. He was equally supported by Mukesh and Bumrah both taking 2 wickets each.  The Indian team lost their first wicket early on, with Jaiswal departing for a duck. The rest of the top-order batsmen struggled to get going as well, and the team was bowled out for 153. However, a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Markram helped the home team to 62-3 at stumps to steady the ship.  It was an excellent day for bowlers on both sides as 23 wickets fell for 270 runs.  The Proteas bowlers, led by Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, were impressive after t...

Pakistan vs Australia 2nd test Day 1 review

Australia and Pakistan faced off in the second Test match at MSG. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors started well with opening bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza getting the ball to move off the seam. However, the Australian batter struck back with a good opening partnership of 90 runs. Australia finished the day at 187/3 off 66 overs as rain played spoilsport, with Hasan Ali, Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal the pick of the bowlers. It was a tough day for the Pakistani bowlers as they struggled to cause Australian bowlers for long enough periods at a time, but they will look to bounce back on Day 2. The Australian batsman will be aiming to put up a big total for their bowlers to bowl too. Overall, it was an exciting day of Test cricket and fans can look forward to more action in the coming days.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar
