SA20 match 3 SEC vs Pc preview

Today the 3rd match of the SA20 will take place in Gqeberha. This is another pitch which should provide assistance to the spinners and can be on the slower side. The average 1st innings score at this ground is 131 in T20 internationals.  History suggests this is a hard ground to chase on as this is a pitch that gets tougher to bat on. I'm backing the chasing side to pull off a win today as it will be the first time in a while a match is being played under lights at St George's Park Gqeberha.  The two teams look very balanced and also both have so good depth players to look out for will be Jordan Hermann, Aiden Markram, Junaid Dawood, and Ottniel Baartman for the Sunrisers and Ethan Bosh, Shane Dadswell, Marco Marais and Migael Pretorius for Capitals.   Predicted teams  Sunrisers Eastern Cape: 1: Jordan Hermann, 2: Aiden Markram, 3: Marques Ackerman, 4: JJ Smuts, 5: Tristan Stubbs, 6: Jordan Cox, 7: Tom Abell, 8: Roelof van der Merwe, 9: Marco Jansen, 10: J...

SA20 Match 2 review: The Don Ferreira Show

Joburg Super Kings have got off to a winning start in the SA20 as they beat Durban Super Giants by 16 runs in match 2 of the league.  The Super Kings won the toss and chose to bat 1st and were in early trouble as they slipped to 27-4 in 6 overs. They were then rescued by Donovan Ferreira and Faf du Plessis who put together a partnership of 72 of 48 at a Strike rate of 150 and then a 2nd partnership of 87 from 35 between Donovan Ferriera and Romario Sheperd at a strike rate of 248.5. These 2 partnerships changed the game totally as Super Kings posted a defendable score of 190.  Donovan Ferreira was the star of the match with both bat and ball as first he helped rescue the Super Kings after a disastrous start, he was a key contributor to both the partnerships that took Super Kings to a winning total as he scored 82 of 40 at a strike rate of 205 which included 8 4s and 5 6s during his innings. He did get off to a shaky start as he edged a few that went over the slips and ke...

Match 2 of the SA20 is going to be played today. Durban Super Giants vs Joburg Super Kings today to well-balanced teams in this year's tournament. It's going to be interesting to see what the conditions of the Kingsmead pitch will be for today's game.  I think spinners will play an important role today compared to yesterday. Key players for this match will be Quinton de Kock, Jason Holder, and Keshav Maharaj for the Super Giants. Faf du Plessis, Reeza Hendricks and Jannaman Malan.  I'm hoping for another good game today after yesterday's game.  New from toss Super Kings win and chose to bat  Starting 11s Durban Super Giants: 1: Quinton de Kock, 2: Matthew Breetzke, 3: Kyle Mayers, 4: Heinrich Klaasen, 5:  Wiaan Mulder, 6: Dwaine Pretoruis, 7: Jason Holder, 8: Prenelan Subrayen, 9: Keshav Maharaj, 10: Kemo Paul, 11: Akila Dananjaya Joburg Super Giants: 1: Reeza Hendricks, 2: Janneman Malan, 3: Faf du Plessis, 4: Kyle Verreynne, 5: Lewis Gregory, 6: Donovon ...

SA20 match one review

MI Cape Town have started off the SA20 with a bonus point win against Paarl Royals. The MI Cape Town team led by Rashid Khan showed why they are the favourites to win the inaugural SA20 as their strong bowling lineup put in an exceptional performance as restricted the Paarl Royals to 142 in their 20 overs. The Paarl batsman struggled apart from Miller and Buttler nobody else got going and that meant that the Royals were always behind the game.  The MI Cape Town opening pair of Brevis and Rickelton had no problem during the chase as they set up the chase with an opening stand of 90 in 10.4 overs before Rickelton was out-bowled for 42. Brevis and Rickelon punished the Paarl bowlers who gave them any room to free their arms and once they were in, they took control of the match and imposed themselves on the bowlers not letting the bowlers settle at any stage during the chase. Brevis ended the match not out on 72 as MI Cape Town won by 8 wickets.   Below is a pic of MI C...

SA20 MI Cape Town vs Paarl royals

SA20 launches Today with the 1st match being MI Cape Town vs Paarl Royals. The excitement is significant as there will be a lot of star power on show. Both teams have put together an exceptionally good team and combinations will be interesting to see what they go with.   MI Cape Town will be looking to start with a bang as they are the home team for this match, and they would love to get their campaign off to a good start. I'm interested to see how MI Cape Town's local talent fairs in this match as they play against some big names, as they have some exciting young talented players in their team. Paarl Royals will be looking to get their campaign off to a good start as well and they like MI have some exciting young talented local players in their team to match up with the overseas pros and National players.  I can't wait for this match to get started as it is the Cape Derby in SA domestic cricket.  Predicted teams  MI Cape Town:  1: Ryan Rickelon, 2: Grant R...

Proteas vs Australia 3rd test day 2 review

A day full of runs for Australia as they scored 328 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Australia have taken full control of this match. It was a day to remember Steve Smith who got his 30th test century and Usman Khawaja who got to his 13th test century. Khawaja is still unbeaten and is 5 away from a well-deserved double-century.  The day started with the Proteas bowling well and putting pressure on Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja, but they couldn't pick up any wickets. Smith and Khawaja absorbed the pressure and once they found their rhythm there was no stopping them as they punished the Proteas bowlers and piled on the runs as they reached an already massive total of 475 and don't look like they will stop there as they will look to bat an hour or 2 tomorrow and add to their score.  The Proteas seem to have been batted out of this match and it looks like they are heading for another huge defeat at the hands of the Aussies to start off 2023. The Proteas will hope their batsma...

Proteas vs Australia 3rd test Day 1 review

The 1st day of the Proteas vs Australia 3rd test was rain and bad light affected one as only 47 overs of play were possible. The day started with Australia winning the toss and choosing to bat 1st on a slow and dry SCG pitch both teams went with 2 spinners.  The day started off with Proteas taking advantage, getting the early wicket of Warner for 10 runs. That was the only success they had as Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne put together a partnership of 135 for the 2nd wicket. Nortje did end the day with his and Protea's 2nd wicket, that of Labuschagne, for a well-played 79.  Usman Khawaja ends the day unbeaten on 54 not out and the Aussies will be hoping he can convert it into a big hundred as they look to take an early advantage in this test.  The Proteas bowlers apart from Nortje were not at their best today. Rabada and Jansen bowled a bit too short. They need to pitch the ball up tomorrow to create more chances and Maharaj and Harmer need to make more use ...
