New era for Proteas starts against West Indies

The Proteas vs West Indies test series starts tomorrow at Supersport Park Centurion. The Proteas have hit the reset button as they change the coaching staff and leadership in the team. Tomorrow marks the start of a new era for Proteas in test cricket as they will look to end the 2021-2023 world test championship on a high.  The Proteas squad for this series has a fresh look and the team has prepared well under the new leadership and can't wait to get going. The Proteas will want to use this series as a steppingstone in the right direction as they look to prove they are still a force to recon within the longest form of the game. West Indies will hope their young inexperience squad can be up to the challenge and compete against a dangerous Proteas bowling attack. The West Indies do have the bowlers to exploit the conditions but do they have it in them to do it consistently for extended periods of time? West Indies biggest test will be batting department can they put enough runs on th

PSL 8 : Match 2 KK vs PZ preview

Today's match in PSL is a big match as it's Peshawar Zalmi vs Karachi Kings or Babar vs Imad and Babar vs Amir. This will be a massive match as Babar returns to Karachi to play for the away team for the first time in PSL.  The most awaited moment of this match will be how Babar will play against his former teammates and what strategy Imad and Amir use against Babar.  I think Karachi Kings will win this match due to better team balance and experience to sum up conditions. The Zalmi team lacks experienced players and proper leadership which I think could lead to a poor season for them.  The Karachi Kings team seemed more settled, and the team environment seems good although they are creating a lot of controversy in the media.  My Prediction for this match is Karachi will win and Peshawar will bat first and score 155.  Karachi will chase is 17 overs. The team that wins the toss will bowl first.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 33 preview

The final of the inaugural SA20 has finally arrived and the 2 teams remaining are the Capitals and the Sunrisers who have been the 2 best teams in the competition. The Wanderers will be buzzing tomorrow as the Capitals will have the support of the Joburg fans considering they are the team from Gauteng.  The pitch will be high-scoring, and if batsmen apply themselves, many runs will be scored. The batsman to watch out for will be the top 5 of both sides in Salt, Mendis, Rossington, Bavuma, De Bruyn, Rossouw, Hermann, Markram, Ingram and Stubbs.  I think the team that wins the toss will choose to bowl considering there is a bit of rain around and the wicket might be a bit tacky to start. Considering it's a final I would prefer to bat and put the runs on the board. The pressure of chasing in a final is always tough to handle and will require nerves of steel no doubt both teams have the players to pull off a high-pressure chase and we might see a star emerge for SA cricket out of tha

SA20 match 32 preview

The 2nd semifinal today between Super Kings and Sunrisers is taking place at centurion and the Super Kings have won the toss and chose to bowl first. This is not a surprising decision as the pitch has been undercover due to the rain for the last 2 days.  The pitch should have moisture on it which will provide some assistance for the seamers. I expect the pitch to big a tough one for batsmen to get started on. I think a total of 150 to 160 is defendable similar to yesterday.  The Sunrisers will be hoping their batsman can provide them with a platform to get a defendable score on the board and they will hope their key players stand up and make it count in this all-important encounter.  Super Kings will hope their experienced players can come to the party and make it count in this knockout game the most experienced in these types of situations is their captain Du Plessis. Both teams will hope the rain stays away so they can get a full game and entertain the crowd at Supersport park Centu

SA20 match 31 preview

Semifinal 1 will be a repeat of the last league phase match between the Capitals and Royals just the venue is the Wanderers. This is going to be an interesting match as it's a knockout and both teams will start from scratch with no advantage.  The Capitals will hope they can use the momentum that they gained from yesterday's match and put in another good performance and win the semifinal to move one step further to winning the inaugural SA20.  The Royals will hope they can put yesterday's disastrous performance behind them and start afresh and put in a winning performance today at the Wanderers. The Royals have the players to put in a dominating performance and will hope they come good today in this crunch game.  The Wanderer's pitch should be a good one and I think the scores will be around the 180 to 200 mark and the crowds will be entertained with a high-scoring thriller.  My prediction is Royals will win and Super Kings will win tomorrow.  Royals vs Super Kings Fina

SA20 match 30 preview

The last league phase match of the SA20 has a lot to play for as the Capitals take on the Royals in Centurion. The Royals need to win or avoid defeat by a huge margin to seal the last spot in the playoffs.  The Capitals are already qualified for the playoffs, but a heavy defeat could see them slip to 2nd position on the table. They would want to win and build some momentum before the semifinals. Especially after the heavy defeat in the last match.  The Royals will want to win to avoid falling into a net run rate battle with the Super Giants for the last semifinal spot. They will hope their senior players make it count today when it matters the most.  This will be an entertaining match as the pitch at centurion has been offering a good balance for bat and ball.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 29 preview

Today's match is a dead rubber in terms of the race for the semifinals as MI Cape Town are already knocked out and Joburg Super Kings have qualified for the semifinals. The only thing that is up for grabs is Super Kings potentially finishing top of the table if they win with a bonus point today and Royals beat the Capitals tomorrow by a huge margin. I think the focus for the Super Kings will be to win the match and continue to build momentum going into the semifinals. Topping the table if they manage to will be a bonus for them.  The MI Cape Town Team will want to finish off their Campaign with a win and hope to come back next year and execute their plans much better and hopefully make the playoffs.  The pitch for today I'm hoping is a good one and full of runs and the crowd can be entertained by a high scoring thriller. SA20 match 28 preview

This is an important match for Super Giants as they need to win with a Bonus point to still have a chance to make the playoffs. The Pretoria Capitals have already qualified as table toppers.  The Capitals will want to just build some momentum going into the playoffs as the are likely to play at the Wanderers.  The pitch should be an interesting one looking at yesterday's match i don't think in will be easy for batsman the softer the ball gets so it will be very important for batsman that get in early on to try and bat through the innings.  I'm hoping to see an entertaining match and Super Giants give it their all to make the playoffs. SA20 match 27 preview

The winner of this match will be the 2nd team to officially make it to the playoffs of the Betway SA20. The Super Kings will be hoping they can stay unbeaten at home having won 2 and 1 match washed-out.  The Sunrisers will want to return to winning ways before they the playoffs as they look likely to make the playoffs. This is their last game before the playoffs so finishing the league phase on a winning note will be a big boost for them.  There could be weather around and if that happens and the match is washed out then both teams will be through to the playoffs. This will mean MI Cape Town are officially out of the SA20. IF the Sunrisers win then MI Cape Town still has a chance if they beat Super Kings on Monday by a bonus point. A Sunrisers win will also boost the Super Giants' chances of making the playoffs as well.  In the context of the SA20, this is a big match as this could leave the competition wide open going into the last 2 days of the league phase before the playoffs. SA20 match 26 preview

This is a must-win for MI Cape Town as they are now at the bottom of the table and need to win the last 2 matches to make sure they qualify for the semifinals. They will hope Brevis can find some form on his home ground Centurion and can the batting off to a flying start.  The Pretoria Capitals will want to win this match and seal a top-of-the-table finish in the league phase b as they are already assured a spot in the semifinals. The Capitals will want to resume the campaign by continuing the good work they have done so far.  The pitch for this match at Supersport park should be a good one and I expect a 200+ score if the rain can stay away during the match.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 25

This is a must-win for the Super Giants as they continue to keep their semifinal hopes alive. The Sunrisers can move closer to sealing a semifinal spot with a win today.  Today we could see the Debut of Proteas White ball captain Temba Bavuma in the SA20, and a lot of fans are excited for his debut seeing his form in the concluded Proteas vs England ODI series.  The Sunrisers will hope the break can help refresh their players and that they get off with a win as they resume their campaign.  This is a crucial match for both teams as

SA20 match 24

Joburg Super Kings will start their home leg of the SA20 against Paarl Royals with an afternoon game. This will be interesting to see how Buttler, Roy and Miller and Ngidi will go after an excellent series between Proteas and England. The Super Kings will hope Reeza Hendricks can continue the form he gained in the last game against England. They have also signed Kyle Simmons and Mattew Wade.  The Paarl Royals have all their players available and have not signed any replacements. This will be an entertaining match at the Wanderers. I expect it to be a high-scoring match with scores between 190 and 220.  The 2 teams have to players to provide an explosive match.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 23

The SA20 returns Today with the Durban Super Giants vs MI Cape Town at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium.  The SA20 has been great so far and fans will be happy with the return of the competition for the last 3 rounds and the Semifinals and final.  I expect to see a good pitch in Durban today. There should be a balance between bat and ball and scores should be around 170 to 175 for today's match.  The starting 11 for both teams will be interesting to see as players from the SA vs England ODI series are yet to return and should be back by the next match.  This match is interesting as the loser could be out of the SA20 race for semifinal spots. DSG especially since they are on 8 points. MI Cape Town could still comeback by winning their last 2 matches as they are on 13 points.  I predict an entertaining match with DSG to win to spice the competition up as the race for the semifinals gets tight.  Writer : Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

Proteas vs England 3rd ODI

The ODI series between Proteas and England ended with a 2-1 win for the Proteas. The series has been competitive and entertaining.  Proteas won the toss and chose to bowl. They started off well but then Buttler and Malan put together a partnership of 232 off 211. This partnership brought England right back into the match as they recovered from 14 for 3 to post 346-7 in their 50 overs.  In reply, the Proteas were always ahead of the scoring rate, the only problem was they lost wickets at regular intervals, which is why they ended up being bowled out for 287. Archer was the star picking up 6-40 of 9.1 overs. England won the match by 59 runs. The Proteas can take a lot of positives from this series as they have given themselves a good chance to gain the last direct qualification spot.  Writer : Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

Proteas vs England 2nd ODI review: Bavuma Leads from the front to take Proteas to series win

Proteas recorded the highest successful ODI chase in Bloemfontein to win the series against England with one match to go. The Proteas won the toss and chose to bowl first. They started off well, but the England batters managed to put together a few good partnerships which brought them back into the match as they posted 342-7 in their 50 overs In reply led by their captain, the Proteas chased down the target successfully with Bavuma 109 off 102, Markram 49 0ff 43 and Miller 58 of 57 the 3 best batsmen for the Proteas the rest did chip in and played their part in contributing to the victory. The Proteas will now look to rape up a series whitewash and strengthen their chance off claiming the last direct qualification spot for the World cup later this year. Writer : Ebrahim Yusuf Omar
