New Zealand's Morning

After day 3 was washed out by rain both teams looked to make time up on day 4. Day 4 morning went to New Zealand as they took control of the game and continued to look for a victory. They took 4 wickets this morning to reduce England to 6 down at Lunch. Tim Southee got 3 wickets and Jamieson got one. The day started with Jamieson getting Root of the first ball of the day for 42 of 113 caught by Taylor. Then we had a bit of a partnership between Burns and Pope before Southee got Pope LBW for 22 of 32 and he had Lawrance caught de Gromme bowled Southee 0 of 2 and Bracey on debut 0 of 6 bowled Southee. The first session of day 4 saw 53 runs scored for the loss of 4 wickets as England went to Lunch on 164/6 with burns unbeaten on 72 of 203 and Robinson on 16 0f 48. This session was New Zealand's as they took the ascendancy in the test match. From here on two results are possible one a New Zealand victory and two a draw. unless England plays some incredible cricket an England victory i...

Proteas future looks bright

SA A tour to Zimbabwe was a sign that proteas still have a bright future if the right selections are made. Players who in the A squad to Zimbabwe showed that with their dominant performance winning the 4 matches unofficial One Day series 3-1. Apart from the third match of the series where they slipped up but still, even in that match, there were some encouraging performances to take away. The bowling also very good. the only bad performance was the first game when they conceded 319 runs. In that performance, the bowling unit did fight back at the back end of the innings to bring the SA A team back into the game. SA A did win the 3 games comfortable and they weren't really challenged.  That's what you would expect from a South Africa vs Zimbabwe series a  One-sided affair in favour of South Africa. The positives to take away from this series is that Proteas are building some depth and also creating options to balance their side better across formats.  As we get closer to t...

Debut Century at Lords  Day 1 of the first test of English Summer has come to a close and the Day belongs to New Zealand and Devon Conway. New Zealand Dominated the Day Totally and the English side looked flat today, their bowling attack looked a bit too onedimensional and going forward I don't think England can afford to go with an attack that consists of James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson cause the three are similar bowlers in skill and pace which makes it easier for the opposition to adjust too and score runs as there isn't any variation to the bowling attack.  New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat this morning and they went about their work with seeing out the new ball they reached lunch at 85/1 losing the wicket of Latham for 23 of 57. He played on to a delivery from Ollie Robinson. Conway was on 43 and Williamson on 13 at Lunch  The middle session was an even one with New Zealand losing two wickets but they did add a further 59 runs in that session....

England vs New Zealand 1st Test Preview

Tomorrow the first test of the English summer will take start between host England and New Zealand. We will see a few Debuts in this match from both sides as well as through the series.  England will have a Debuting Wicketkeeper and maybe a bowler as well. With Foakes ruled out of the series we could see James Bracey who is not capped at the international level or Sam Billings who is capped in international limited-overs but yet to be capped at test level make their test debut. The other debut for England could come in the form of swing bowler Ollie Robinson. Robinson debut will depend on what formation England decide to go with.  England Probable XI:1 Rory Burns, 2 Dom Sibley,3 Zack Crawley, 4 Joe Root, 5 Ollie Pope,6 Dan Lawrence, 7 James Bracey,8  Craig Overton/Jack Leach,9 Stuart Broad, 10 Mark Wood,11  James Anderson If Jack Leach plays then Broad and Wood will move one place up in the Batting order that's how I see it. New Zealand is going to give Conway ...

Top four settled, Leicester miss out

The English Premier League came to an end over the weekend and also we got to know who the final four were as Liverpool and Chelsea joined Man City and Man United to complete the top 4 for the 2020/21 season.  Coming into the final day City and United were confirmed top 2 with 3rd and 4th still up for grabs. Leicester was the team with all the work to do if they were to secure one of the 2 remaining spots as they were in 5th spot going into finals day also they were the worst when comparing the goal difference of the three teams competing for the 2 spots.  Leicester failed to beat Tottenham as they lost 4-2 and Chelsea lost as well to Aston Villa 2-1 thus Chelsea finished in fourth on 67 points 1 point ahead of Leicester. The surprise of the lot was Liverpool finishing in third as they capped off a 10 match winning streak to finish the season on a high.  Liverpool who was looking like they might just make it to the Europa League went on to win their last 10 games of...
