Debut Century at Lords

Day 1 of the first test of English Summer has come to a close and the Day belongs to New Zealand and Devon Conway. New Zealand Dominated the Day Totally and the English side looked flat today, their bowling attack looked a bit too onedimensional and going forward I don't think England can afford to go with an attack that consists of James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson cause the three are similar bowlers in skill and pace which makes it easier for the opposition to adjust too and score runs as there isn't any variation to the bowling attack.

New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat this morning and they went about their work with seeing out the new ball they reached lunch at 85/1 losing the wicket of Latham for 23 of 57. He played on to a delivery from Ollie Robinson. Conway was on 43 and Williamson on 13 at Lunch

The middle session was an even one with New Zealand losing two wickets but they did add a further 59 runs in that session. During the second session, they lost the wickets of Williamson 13 of 33 who played on to a delivery from Anderson. They also lost the wicket of Ross Taylor for 14 of 38, he was LBW to Robinson. They went into Tea on 144/3 with Conway on 71 and Nicholls on 10.

The final Session was all New Zealand as they scored 102 runs without losing a wicket. Conway continued to make his debut more memorable by bringing up his century and Nicholls gave good company as they kept the board ticking. The two put together a partnership of 132 of  289. Conway finished the day unbeaten on 136 of 240  and Nicholls 46 of 149. The two will resume tomorrow when play starts again for Day 2.

The final scorecard summary looked like this.

New Zealand  246/3      86 overs

Conway 136* (240)                                             Robinson 2-50 (16)

Nicholls 46* ( 149)                                              Anderson 1-55 (20)

Proteas vs India 2nd test Day 1 review

The second test match between Proteas and India kicked off on a high note with the hosts putting up a horrendous batting performance on day 1. The Proteas team won the toss and elected to bat first, but they failed to make the most of the opportunity as the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the home team's batting line-up bowling them out for 55. Mohammed Siraj was the chief destroyer with 6 wickets for 15 runs in 9 overs. He was equally supported by Mukesh and Bumrah both taking 2 wickets each.  The Indian team lost their first wicket early on, with Jaiswal departing for a duck. The rest of the top-order batsmen struggled to get going as well, and the team was bowled out for 153. However, a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Markram helped the home team to 62-3 at stumps to steady the ship.  It was an excellent day for bowlers on both sides as 23 wickets fell for 270 runs.  The Proteas bowlers, led by Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, were impressive after t...

Pakistan vs Australia 2nd test Day 1 review

Australia and Pakistan faced off in the second Test match at MSG. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors started well with opening bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza getting the ball to move off the seam. However, the Australian batter struck back with a good opening partnership of 90 runs. Australia finished the day at 187/3 off 66 overs as rain played spoilsport, with Hasan Ali, Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal the pick of the bowlers. It was a tough day for the Pakistani bowlers as they struggled to cause Australian bowlers for long enough periods at a time, but they will look to bounce back on Day 2. The Australian batsman will be aiming to put up a big total for their bowlers to bowl too. Overall, it was an exciting day of Test cricket and fans can look forward to more action in the coming days.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar
