Proteas vs West indies ODI series preview

The Betway ODI series between SA and West Indies gets underway with the first ODI in East London on Thursday. This series will form part of both teams' preparation for the World cup later this year although both teams still need to qualify for the World cup.  The West Indies depend on New Zealand, Netherlands, and Bangladesh to win their remaining matches so that they can seal the last direct qualification spot, which is looking unlikely. The Proteas control their own faith as they still have 2 matches left against the Netherlands and if they win those 2 matches comfortably, they should be able to seal the last qualification spot providing New Zealand and Bangladesh win one match in their series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.  This ODI series will provide some much need confidence to whoever wins and should allow them to build going forward as they look to find the right combinations for the world cup. The Proteas will be experimenting with their team for the first 2 ODIs as th

SA vs West Indies 2nd test

The Proteas completed a 2-0 series win against West Indies to finish 3rd in the 2021-23 WTC cycle. The Proteas performance was led by Captain Bavuma as he scored 172 to lead the way as Proteas beat West Indies by 284 runs in the 2nd test.  The Proteas batted first and posted 320 with Markram 96 and De Zorzi 85 being the top 2 scorers for the Proteas first Innings. The Proteas started well again with a opening partnership of 76 and 2nd wicket Partnership of 116 between Markram and De Zorzi. They also had a 3rd wicket Partnership of 56 between De Zorzi and Bavuma. These were the 3 most significant partnerships during the innings, and this is a good total on this pitch The Proteas then came out to bowl and were in control early on as they picked up wickets regularly and didn't allow the West Indies to get away with any good partnerships. The West Indies were eventually bowled out for 251 with Holder top scoring with 81.  The Proteas took a 1st innings lead of 69 runs The Proteas were

Proteas vs West Indies 1st test review

Protea's new era started off very well as they scored 314-8 on day 1 of the first test of this series. The day started with Proteas winning the toss and choosing to bat first. The Proteas got off to a great start as Elgar and Markram batted through too Lunch as they put together an opening Partnership of 99 in the morning session.  The afternoon session was again dominated by Proteas as a further 107 added for the loss of 1 wicket. The wicket that fell during the afternoon session was that of Elgar for a well-played 71 off 118.  Markram and the debutant De Zorzi then continued to bat untroubled as they put together a partnership of 78 off 127 before De Zorzi ran himself out and this triggered a collapse by Proteas as they lost 7 wickets in the last session of the day.  The Proteas were still able to score as they scored a further 108 runs in the last session. The West Indies had made a good comeback by Stumps Day 1.  The Proteas would add another 28 runs before being bowled out for

New era for Proteas starts against West Indies

The Proteas vs West Indies test series starts tomorrow at Supersport Park Centurion. The Proteas have hit the reset button as they change the coaching staff and leadership in the team. Tomorrow marks the start of a new era for Proteas in test cricket as they will look to end the 2021-2023 world test championship on a high.  The Proteas squad for this series has a fresh look and the team has prepared well under the new leadership and can't wait to get going. The Proteas will want to use this series as a steppingstone in the right direction as they look to prove they are still a force to recon within the longest form of the game. West Indies will hope their young inexperience squad can be up to the challenge and compete against a dangerous Proteas bowling attack. The West Indies do have the bowlers to exploit the conditions but do they have it in them to do it consistently for extended periods of time? West Indies biggest test will be batting department can they put enough runs on th

PSL 8 : Match 2 KK vs PZ preview

Today's match in PSL is a big match as it's Peshawar Zalmi vs Karachi Kings or Babar vs Imad and Babar vs Amir. This will be a massive match as Babar returns to Karachi to play for the away team for the first time in PSL.  The most awaited moment of this match will be how Babar will play against his former teammates and what strategy Imad and Amir use against Babar.  I think Karachi Kings will win this match due to better team balance and experience to sum up conditions. The Zalmi team lacks experienced players and proper leadership which I think could lead to a poor season for them.  The Karachi Kings team seemed more settled, and the team environment seems good although they are creating a lot of controversy in the media.  My Prediction for this match is Karachi will win and Peshawar will bat first and score 155.  Karachi will chase is 17 overs. The team that wins the toss will bowl first.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 33 preview

The final of the inaugural SA20 has finally arrived and the 2 teams remaining are the Capitals and the Sunrisers who have been the 2 best teams in the competition. The Wanderers will be buzzing tomorrow as the Capitals will have the support of the Joburg fans considering they are the team from Gauteng.  The pitch will be high-scoring, and if batsmen apply themselves, many runs will be scored. The batsman to watch out for will be the top 5 of both sides in Salt, Mendis, Rossington, Bavuma, De Bruyn, Rossouw, Hermann, Markram, Ingram and Stubbs.  I think the team that wins the toss will choose to bowl considering there is a bit of rain around and the wicket might be a bit tacky to start. Considering it's a final I would prefer to bat and put the runs on the board. The pressure of chasing in a final is always tough to handle and will require nerves of steel no doubt both teams have the players to pull off a high-pressure chase and we might see a star emerge for SA cricket out of tha

SA20 match 32 preview

The 2nd semifinal today between Super Kings and Sunrisers is taking place at centurion and the Super Kings have won the toss and chose to bowl first. This is not a surprising decision as the pitch has been undercover due to the rain for the last 2 days.  The pitch should have moisture on it which will provide some assistance for the seamers. I expect the pitch to big a tough one for batsmen to get started on. I think a total of 150 to 160 is defendable similar to yesterday.  The Sunrisers will be hoping their batsman can provide them with a platform to get a defendable score on the board and they will hope their key players stand up and make it count in this all-important encounter.  Super Kings will hope their experienced players can come to the party and make it count in this knockout game the most experienced in these types of situations is their captain Du Plessis. Both teams will hope the rain stays away so they can get a full game and entertain the crowd at Supersport park Centu
