Proteas win 1st Test as Spin Twin Demolish Bangla Tigers

Proteas have won the 1st test against Bangladesh in Durban at the Kingsmead Stadium by 220 runs after the spin twins of Maharaj and Harmer ran through the Bangladesh batting order in the 2nd innings. Maharaj ended with 7-32 in 10 overs and Harmer ended with 3-21 in 9 0vers.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first on the first morning. The Bangladesh bowlers could not back their captain's decision as SA got off to a good start with their openers putting up a 100 run partnership for the first wicket. Bangladesh then fought back with 4 wickets in quick time but the SA lower middle order together with Bavuma manage to put together some partnerships which help SA post a 1st innings total of 367.

In reply, Bangladesh batsman Struggled to tackle the twin spin due Maharaj and Harmer with only Joy, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan really managing to tackle the SA spinners. as they showed resistance and batted around Joy who scored a well deserved 137 and posted 298 giving SA a lead of 69 going into the 2nd innings.

SA in the 2nd innings again got off to a good start as their top put together 2 good partnerships to get SA to 105-1 before SA lost their last 9 wickets for 99 runs ending up setting Bangladesh a target of 274 to win.

This is when Maharaj and Harmer released carnage on the Banglashesh tigers as the fire burning within the two SA spinners burnt the black stripes of Bangla Tigers as they combined to bowl 19 overs straight and bowl them out for 53 to lead SA to victory.

This win establishes SA's 2nd position in the world test championship as they move to a 66.66 winning percentage after this victory. This is just making it harder for the teams chasing a top 2 position to make the World Test Championship Final.
