Proteas suprising Preliminary World cup squad

The Proteas have announced their preliminary World cup squad and there are some interesting selections made by the selectors as Proteas only have one series left before the World cup. The Proteas 19 men squad looks strong and balanced, but the biggest question is will that remain the same when the squad is cut down to fifteen.

The captain for Proteas is Bavuma who is a very calm and cool leader. He has adjusted to the leadership role very well and has the respect of his teammates. The team under his leadership is a very well-gelled unit.
The vice-captain of the team is Markram who has been seen as a leader from age group cricket. He and Bavuma have a great relationship and they work very well together bouncing ideas off each other. Makram as Bavuma deputy makes the perfect pair to lead the Proteas in the World cup.

The key players for Proteas in this World cup will be Klaasen, Miller, Van der Dussen in the batting and Maharaj, Shamsi, Rabada and Nortje in the bowling department. If these players have a good World cup the Proteas will have an extremely good chance to win the world cup.

The Proteas current Strengths in ODI
  • Strong top order
  • Good batsman against spin
  • Strong fast bowling attack
The Proteas weakness in ODI
  • lower order batting
  • death bowling
  • lack of proper all rounders

These are SA players current ODI stats

The Proteas team are in decent form as an ODI unit there are a few questions that need to be answered and hopefully they will be during the five match ODI series against Australia. Proteas will give a debut to Brevis jurying the ODI series and he might be the answer to the No7 spot that's open in the Proteas batting order.

Good Luck to the Proteas for the World Cup

Proteas vs India 2nd test Day 1 review

The second test match between Proteas and India kicked off on a high note with the hosts putting up a horrendous batting performance on day 1. The Proteas team won the toss and elected to bat first, but they failed to make the most of the opportunity as the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the home team's batting line-up bowling them out for 55. Mohammed Siraj was the chief destroyer with 6 wickets for 15 runs in 9 overs. He was equally supported by Mukesh and Bumrah both taking 2 wickets each.  The Indian team lost their first wicket early on, with Jaiswal departing for a duck. The rest of the top-order batsmen struggled to get going as well, and the team was bowled out for 153. However, a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Markram helped the home team to 62-3 at stumps to steady the ship.  It was an excellent day for bowlers on both sides as 23 wickets fell for 270 runs.  The Proteas bowlers, led by Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, were impressive after t...

Pakistan vs Australia 2nd test Day 1 review

Australia and Pakistan faced off in the second Test match at MSG. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors started well with opening bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza getting the ball to move off the seam. However, the Australian batter struck back with a good opening partnership of 90 runs. Australia finished the day at 187/3 off 66 overs as rain played spoilsport, with Hasan Ali, Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal the pick of the bowlers. It was a tough day for the Pakistani bowlers as they struggled to cause Australian bowlers for long enough periods at a time, but they will look to bounce back on Day 2. The Australian batsman will be aiming to put up a big total for their bowlers to bowl too. Overall, it was an exciting day of Test cricket and fans can look forward to more action in the coming days.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar
