IPL Venue

UAE, Sri-Lanka, England, or Australia. Who will get the hosting rights for the remaining IPL 2021 fixtures?

BCCI continues to debate which of the 4 countries is most suitable to host the remainder of IPL 2021. In my opinion, Australia is the most unlikely of the four considering the difference in time zones with India. Also, the fact that straight after completion of the IPL is the T20 world cup which is most likely going to be hosted in the UAE unless Australia does agree to host the T20 world cup this year in the upcoming ICC meeting in July, then they will automatically become the front runner to host the remainder of IPL 2021 as well.

The reason being for this is less traveling for players thus ensuring the safety of the players as both tournaments will be a host in the same country.  The current front runner to host both tournaments is the UAE as we know they have signed a deal with BCCI to be the backup venue especially when it comes to IPL and India's home international Schedule.  The T20 world cup is an exception considering it is ICC event and only they have the right to change the venue if needed.

Should UAE host the T20 world cup then India would still have to host rights to the tournament this why the UAE is most likely to host the tournament and also IPL. They have proven they can pull off a tournament of this magnitude last year when they hosted the IPL 2020 in September/October.

IPL is an 8 team tournament whereas the T20 world cup has 16 teams so this also will have to be considered when deciding on a venue for this year's event. England is the outsider at the moment as they are only in consideration to host the IPL unlike the other 3 who also have a chance at hosting the T20 world cup.

Srilanka is the dark horse cause they are in both debates as an option to host IPL and T20 world cup. They offered BCCI to host the remainder of the IPL and ICC has listed them as an option to host the T20 world cup but considering BCCI is not showing much interest in hosting IPL in Srilanka they might just be the first team to fall out of contention after England.

UAE is the favorite to host both tournaments for me considering that they are probably the best option considering the current situation and that the other 3 need a lot to go in their favor. We have one in UAE and the Other in Srilanka as these two countries are close by that's another option.

They have been reports that BCCI president Ganguly will be going to England for the WTC and at the same time there will be talks of England hosting the remainder of IPL but I don't think it will bear any fruit since the director of cricket for England Ashly Giles has released a statement the the English players will not be available when IPL resumes due to their international schedule. So an IPL in England with no home players probably not a good idea.

Only time will tell and also ICC's decision after their meeting in July will be a huge factor in where these two tournaments will be hosted.

My Pick is UAE is going to be host to both. what are your thoughts .... do share in the comments?

Proteas vs India 2nd test Day 1 review

The second test match between Proteas and India kicked off on a high note with the hosts putting up a horrendous batting performance on day 1. The Proteas team won the toss and elected to bat first, but they failed to make the most of the opportunity as the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the home team's batting line-up bowling them out for 55. Mohammed Siraj was the chief destroyer with 6 wickets for 15 runs in 9 overs. He was equally supported by Mukesh and Bumrah both taking 2 wickets each.  The Indian team lost their first wicket early on, with Jaiswal departing for a duck. The rest of the top-order batsmen struggled to get going as well, and the team was bowled out for 153. However, a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Markram helped the home team to 62-3 at stumps to steady the ship.  It was an excellent day for bowlers on both sides as 23 wickets fell for 270 runs.  The Proteas bowlers, led by Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, were impressive after t...

Australia vs Pakistan 3rd test day 3 review

The third day of the third Test match between Australia and Pakistan was exciting, with both teams battling it out on the field. Australia resumed on 116-2 with Labuschange and Smith continuing to score steadily and take Australia closer to Pakistan's first innings score of 313. Labuschange and Smith added 71 runs before both Smith and Labuschange lost their wickets one after the other. Australia then managed a few small partnerships to take their score to 289 before collapsing to 299 all out giving Pakistan a first-innings lead of 14 runs.  Pakistan began their 2nd innings in the worst way possible by losing 2 quick wickets in opener Abdulla Shafiq and Captain Shan Masood both for ducks. Saim Ayub and Babar Azam then gave Pakistan some hope with a partnership of 57 before Pakistan's batting collapsed from 58-2 to 68-7 to end the day staring at defeat and missing another chance to win their 1st test in 28 years. Pakistan last won a test match in Australia in 1995...
