The World Test Championship 2019-21 comes to and end

This week Friday the World Test Championships last 2 test matches for the 2019-21 cycle will be played. The final between New Zealand and India and West Indies vs South Africa 2nd test which is the last test match of an official series for the world test championship.

The New Zealand and India match will give us the inaugural winner of the world test championship as the two teams will battle it out in Southampton to crown the best team of the greats format in cricket history.

South Africa vs West Indies test match also has high stakes as if South Africa win the second test match they will finish off in 5th position by having a stronger winning percentage as Pakistan who are currently in 5th have a winning percentage of 43.3% and South Africa will have a winning percentage of 44 if they win the second test match.

If West Indies win the second test match then they will finish in 6th and South Africa will drop to 7th. If the match ends in a draw South Africa will finish in 6th and West Indies in 7th.

Proteas vs India 2nd test Day 1 review

The second test match between Proteas and India kicked off on a high note with the hosts putting up a horrendous batting performance on day 1. The Proteas team won the toss and elected to bat first, but they failed to make the most of the opportunity as the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the home team's batting line-up bowling them out for 55. Mohammed Siraj was the chief destroyer with 6 wickets for 15 runs in 9 overs. He was equally supported by Mukesh and Bumrah both taking 2 wickets each. The Indian team lost their first wicket early on, with Jaiswal departing for a duck. The rest of the top-order batsmen struggled to get going as well, and the team was bowled out for 153. However, a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Markram helped the home team to 62-3 at stumps to steady the ship. Congratulations to England on becoming T20 world champions for the second time. England has become only the second team to win the T20 world cup more than once after winning the 2022 T20 world cup. England is currently the best team in white ball cricket. The brand of cricket they play is just admirable. England's aggressive brand of cricket has made them one of the most dangerous teams in the world and they transition this bold brand into their test game. Going forward, they will be one of the most hazardous sides across all three formats. The final was mostly dominated by England as they won the toss and chose to bowl 1st.
