Proteas vs England 2nd ODI preview

The Proteas will be confident after their win last night in the 1st ODI. They will look to back it up with another good performance and seal the series. They might make a few changes from last nights match.  England will want to put their performance from last night behind them and hope their middle order does much better in the 2nd ODI. England will also look to rotate their bowlers and might bring in Woakes and Topley.  This is going to be a day game with a SA time 10am start. The pitch should be similar to the first game and might provide a little assistance to the seamers at the start of play. The team winning the toss will probably bowl first.  The Predicted Teams Proteas: Quinton De Kock, Temba Bavuma, Rassie Van Der Dussen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, Sisanda Magala, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada , Anrich Nortje England: Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, David Willey, Chris W...

Proteas vs England 1st ODI review

The Proteas won the 1st ODI against England by 27 runs and claimed 10 very important super league points to keep themselves ahead in the race for the last direct qualification spot.  The Proteas won the toss and chose to bat first posting a competitive 298 with Van der Dussen scoring 111 off 117 and Miller 53 off 56 were the two best batsmen. Sam Curran 3-35 and Olly Stone 1-37 were the best bowlers for England.  In reply, England got off to a flying start as the openers put up a 146 partnership before Malan fell for 59 0ff 55 and that was the start of a tremendous comeback by the Proteas bowlers. Nortje 4-62, Magala 3-46 and Rabada 2-46 picked up wickets regularly in the middle period to trigger a collapse by England and win the match for the Proteas.  Roy was excellent with his 113 off 91 but it was not enough in the end as no other England batsman could get going and get the job finished after the wicket of Roy fell.  This win moves SA closer to a direct qua...

Proteas vs England 1st ODI

The all-very important ODI series for Proteas gets on the way at Mangaung Oval Bloemfontein. This is a must-win series for the Proteas if they are to qualify directly for the World cup later this year.  The Proteas have hit the reset button with a new coach and some fresh innovative ideas coming into the camp. The squad looks balanced and very strong.  The depth this squad provides for each department is what makes it more exciting. The biggest question will be Malan or Reeza and Magala or Ngidi in the starting 11.  England's side does not have all 1st choice players but it's still a strong squad and with the brand of cricket they are playing at the moment it won't be easy for Proteas to beat them. England should be the favourites to win this series.  I think the conditions at the Mangaung Oval Bloemfontein will make this series more interesting. With the heat wave around in Northern Cape I expect the pitch to be dry and offer spinners some assistance.  I ...

SA20 match 22 review

The Joburg Super Kings were led to victory by their captain as he scored the first century of the SA20.  The Super Giants again struggled to put together a performance as a team. The Giants batters did ok today after they failed miserably in the last 2 matches. The bowlers, although they kept the run rate in control, struggled to pick wickets and Faf who was playing sublimely took advantage of the situation and single-handedly led the Super Kings to victory.   Faf scored 113 of 58 which included 8 4s and 8 6s at a Strike rate of 194.83.  The Super Kings won the match by 8 wickets and kept themselves in the race for a semifinal spot.  The Super Giants are not out of the competition yet as they still can make the semifinals if they win their remaining matches with at least 2 bonus points.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 21 review

The last match of this year SA20 at st Georges Park was a low-scoring contest. The Royals won the match comfortably with the stars being Buttler, Miller and Phehlukwayo. Buttler scored 51 off 39 Miller scored 37 off 23 and Phehlukwayo took 2-26. JJ Smuts was the top performer for the Sunrisers with 65 off 49 and 1-20. Roloef Van der Merwe was the other top performer with the ball in hand as he took 2-11 in 4 overs. The rest of the Sunrisers were not at their best and the Royals took advantage of that and registered an important victory in terms of the semifinal race.  Once again Captain Miller was at the crease to steer the chase home for the Royals. SA20 match 20 review

The Capitals beat MI Cape Town convincingly to earn another bonus point win. The Capitals were excellent with both bat and ball. Will Jacks led the way with the bat as he scored 62 off 27 as the Capitals posted 182-8 in their 20 overs. The MI Cape Town captain Rashid Khan was the best bowler as he took 3-16 in his 4 overs he also reached 500 T20 career wickets. The MI Cape Town team looked good in the chase while Brevis was at the crease as he scored 46 off 30. Once he and Sam Curran 22 off 18 wickets fell the rest of the batsmen didn't show any resistance as they were bowled out for 130.  The Capital's best bowlers were Parnell 3-14 and Nortje 3-22.  This loss means MI Cape Town have dropped to 4th in the table and will need to win their reaming 3 matches if they are to have a chance to make the semifinals.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 19 review

The Sunrisers put in a fantastic performance to beat the Super Giants convincingly by 124 runs. The Sunrisers' batters were excellent with Rossington 72 of 30, Hermann 59 of 44, Markram 44 of 34 and Stubbs 27 of 13 as the Sunrisers posted 210-2 in their 20 overs. The Super Giants bowlers struggled as all off them were taken to the cleaners by the Sunrisers batsman. The Super Giants batsman didn't do any better as they were bowled out for 86. The best bowler for the Sunrises was Roloef van der Merwe 6-20 from his 4 overs. With the other bowlers supported him well as they put in a clinical performance to claim a massive bonus point win.  Writer : Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 18 review

Boland Park produced another last-over thriller. The home team, the Royals, won by 6 wickets. This was an important victory which kept them in the competition as the race for the semifinals heat up.  The Capitals put in a decent batting performance as they posted 158 largely thanks to Mendis 37 off 26, de Bruyn 53 off 47 and Neesham 21 off 17. Ngidi 1-19 and Shamsi 1-29 were the best bowlers for the Royals. The Royal's batting performance was a complete team effort as all the batsmen contributed to the successful chase. The best bowlers for the Capitals were Rashid 1-26 and Jacks 2-7. The match was an entertaining one as it could have been anyone's game going into the last over the Royals required 10 to win. Captain Miller was there to steer his team home as he hit the first 2 deliveries from Nortje for boundaries.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 17 review

This was a low-scoring thriller between the Sunrisers and Super Kings. The bowlers on both teams were excellent. The batsman struggled on this pitch and there were only a few who contributed significantly. The Sunrise's best batsman were Rossington 40 off 31, JJ Smuts 22 off 18 and Fuller 27 of 20.  The Super Kings best batsman were Faf du Plessis 37 of 38 and du Plooy 47 off 40. The best bowlers for Super Kings were Phangiso 4-20 and Coetzee 4-24. The Sunrisers best bowlers were van de Merwe 2-16 and Smuts 1-8.  The conditions during the match were not easy for batting. The Super Kings batters adapted better which is why they won the match by 5 wickets as they were patient and waited for the bad balls and put them away.  Writer : Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match review 16

The MI Cape Town beat the Paarl Royals by 13 runs. This was an important win for the MI Cape Town Team as it kept them in the race for the knockouts. The match was set up by Rassie Van der Dussen 49 off 42, Grant Roelofsen 34 off 30 and George Linde 24 off 14. The 3 contributed to getting MI Cape Town to a competitive total of 142 on a slow Boland Park Pitch. The MI Cape Town bowlers as a Unit put in an excellent performance to defend the score successfully. The stand-out bowlers were George Linde with 2-23 from his 4 overs, Kagiso Rabada with 2-27 from his 4 overs and Rashid Khan with 1-16 from his 4 overs.  The Royals bowlers were also good as they didn't allow the MI Cape Town batsman to get away and restricted their scoring opportunities. The stand-out bowlers for the Royals were Bjorn Fortuin 2-22 in his 4 overs, Tabraiz Shamsi 2-27 in his 4 overs and Lungi Ngidi 2-29 in his 4 overs.  With the bat Buttler 68 of 58 and Miller 26 of 24 were stand out for the Royals. ...

SA20 match 20 preview

MI Cape Town vs Pretoria Capitals in a battle for the top of the table at the six-gun grill Newlands Stadium. MI Cape wins with a bonus point could see them return to the top of the table while a Capitals win will see them move a step closer to confirming a knockout spot. The pitch at Newlands, I'm hoping, plays better than the previous 4 matches at this venue and we get to see a competitive match.  The Score for this match should be around the 165 to 175 mark as this looks like a winning score at Newlands so far in the competition. The batsman will have to be patient and apply themselves playing proper shots and not looking to forcefully hit everything to score their runs.  The bowlers on both sides should enjoy this pitch as it will provide them with assistance. The battle of the 2 bowling attacks of these 2 teams will be interesting as these are the 2 best bowling attacks up against each other today.  These 2 teams are well-balanced, and their batting lineups are...

SA20 match 19 preview

SA20 match 2 of Doubleheader Sunday is the Sunrisers Eastern Cape vs Durban Super Giants at st Georges Park Geqberha. This should be another low-scoring encounter as the pitch will be similar to yesterday.  The Sunrisers should bring in an extra spinner in the only change from yesterday's match. The Super Giants who need to win this match to stay in the competition will also look to bring in the extra spinner to exploit the conditions better.  I think a score of around 140 to 150 region will be competitive on this pitch. The biggest key will be taking the pace off the ball.  The team winning the toss should look to bat first as it will get tougher for batting as the game goes on . Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 18 preview

Doubleheader Sunday as Paarl Royal vs Pretoria Capitals in the first encounter at Boland Park Paarl. I expect another low scoring match at Boland Park with spinners having a big role to play in this match.  The news is Capitals have won the toss and chose to bat first and have made one change to their team while the Royals remain unchanged.  Score will be around the 145 to 160 mark as it will get tough for batting on this pitch as the ball gets softer so it will be particularly important for batsman who get in early on to bat through the innings if capitals are to post a defendable score.  The Royal this is a must win if they are to keep their hopes of making the knockouts alive and for Capitals a win will seal a spot for them in the knockouts.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar.

SA20 match 17 preview

SA20's 2nd match of the doubleheader Saturday is Sunrisers Eastern Cape vs Joburg Super Kings. The Sunrisers will want to win the 4th match in a row and close the gap between them and the log leaders the Capitals. Super Kings will want to get back to winning ways and get themselves back into the competition.  The Pitch at st Georges Park Gqeberha should provide assistance to the spinners. It should be another dry wicket and under lights, there will be a bit of moisture offering some assistance to the faster bowlers as well.  The score should be around the 150 to 160 mark, and this will be another pitch that requires batsmen to show patience and apply themselves by playing proper shots if they are to be successful.  The teams could bring in the extra spinner into their team to exploit the conditions and give themselves the best chance at winning the match.  I'm hoping that we get an entertaining match and that fans are treated to a thriller in this SA20 encounte...

SA20 match 16 preview

Doubleheader Saturday in SA20 and the first match is Paarl Royals vs MI Cape Town I'm expecting Boland Paarl to produce another low scorer and spinners to play a big part in the match. The pitch will be on the dryer side.  The two teams will be looking to get back to winning ways and Paarl Royals will back their players to deliver in their home conditions. MI Cape Town will be confident that they have the resources to exploit the conditions and win this match. The scores will be in the 135 to 150 range and the team winning the toss will prefer to bowl first and chase as it will be easier to negotiate conditions knowing what score they have to get. The scores can go over 160 if the batsman applies themselves and play the conditions well and don't play too many unnecessary risky shots. The key for batsmen will be to be patient and play proper cricket shots.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 15 review

The Pretoria Capitals won comfortably by 8 wickets at Kingsmead in what was a one-sided match as The Super Giants were never really in the match. The Super Giants were behind after losing the wickets of Mayers, Mulder and De Kock very early in their innings. The Capitals Spinners made things even harder as they slowed the run rate further and took 4 wickets between them to totally end the hope of Super Giants putting up a competitive total. Adil Rashid finished with 1-10 in his 4 overs and Senuran Muthusamy, the homeboy finished with 3-12 in his 4 overs.  The Capitals then made easy work of the chase as they raced to a bonus point win to tighten their hold on the top spot of the table. Will Jacks led the way with a 21-delivery 50.  The Super Giants are in 5th position currently and their hopes of making the knockouts took a big hit with this defeat as the competition reached the halfway mark with the conclusion of this match.  The SA20 table at halfway stage of the ...

Durban Super Giants vs Pretoria Capitals at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium. The Capitals will come in with all the momentum having won 3 of their 4 matches. The Super Giants are coming off a loss to the Royals and will want to utilize home conditions to get back to winning ways.  Depending on pitch conditions you see teams going for 2 or 3 spinners combination as Kingsmead pitch has been on the slower side in recent times. The pitch has been good so far in the 2 games played at Kingsmead and I hope to see another good encounter score will be around the 170 to 180 mark.  I don't expect teams to make too many changes as both have settled team combinations and the only changes I see is based on the conditions of the pitch.  I think the team winning the toss will bowl first preferring to chase under lights. Kingsmead is a place where dew can play a role at night so chasing seems the better option usually on this ground. Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 14 review

Sunrisers continue their comeback with their 3rd straight win in the SA20. The Sunrisers beat the Royals by 4 wickets in what turned out to be a close low-scoring encounter between the 2 teams.   The Royals struggled with the bat after losing wickets at regular intervals as all their batsman got starts and then lost their wicket. The Sunrisers' bowlers never let the batsman get away from them as all bowled well. The Standouts were Magala 1-15 in 4 overs, Markram 2-21 in 4 overs, Roelof Van der Merwe 2-21 in 4 overs and Brydon Carse 2-29 in 4 overs.  The Sunrisers looked comfortable in the chase as Jordan Hermann 43 0f 39 including 3 4s and 2 6s and Aiden Markram 23 of 23 including 1 four and 1 six put together a partnership of 57 of 50 to take the Sunrisers within distance of victory before Bjorn Fortuin 3-20 in 4 overs took 3 wickets in an over to give the Sunrisers a bit of a scare before Stubbs and Jansen guided them home.  The pitch for this match was a goo...

SA20 Match 11 review

This was a fantastic last-over thriller match. Super Kings started off slow but then got going and thanks to Leus de Plooy who scored 75 off 40 including 7 4s and 5 6s at a strike rate of 187.50 the Super Kings got to a competitive 168 in their 20 overs.  The Capital's best bowlers were Nortje with 2-26 in his 4 overs and Ethan bosh with 3-12 in his 3 overs.  In the chase, the Capitals never really got going as their batsman got starts and then lost their wicket. Super King's best bowler was Phangiso who took 4-32 from his 4 overs and Sheperd who took 2-28 from his 4 overs I was there live at the match and the support for the home team was tremendous as they backed them right till the last ball. The Super Kings won by 6 runs in the end but it did look like the Capitals would be taken home by their captain Parnell he got stuck at the non-striker's end as the last 2 wickets fell in quick succession to hand the Super Kings their 2nd win of the competition.  If you want...

SA20 match 13 review

The 2nd of back-to-back matches between Pretoria Capital and Joburg Super Kings was a one-sided affair won by the Capitals.  The Super Kings started off very well and looked set to post a target of 180+. They were 70-2 when they lost the wicket of captain Faf du Plessis for 51 which triggered a collapse that saw the Super Kings bowled out for 122.  The chief destroyers were Nortje 3-12 in his 4 overs and Neesham 3-7 in his 3 overs.  In reply, Will Jacks and Phil Salt got the Capitals off to a flying start. Phil Salt batted through the innings scoring an unbeaten 50 to lead the Capitals to a comfortable bonus point win.  The Super Kings need to find a solution to stop their continued batting collapses if they are to get themselves back into the competition.  The Capitals will be enjoying the moment as they have gone top of the table 4 points clear of 2nd and 3rd position and 5 points clear of the rest.  The Capitals are looking solid so far in the competitio...

SA20 match 14 preview

Paarl Royal vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape in today's SA20 match. The winner of this match should be 2nd on the table. The Royals are currently 2nd on the table and will want to keep hold of that spot. Both teams are coming off victories and will hope to continue winning and build some good momentum as they get closer to the business end of the competition.  I think both teams will be unchanged for this game as they have found a winning formula so there is no need to change things up for now.  This being a night game I expect the pitch to play much better for batting. The ball should come onto the bat under the lights. The team that bats first should post around 190 to 200. I think the team chasing should fancy their chances at chasing.   The team that wins the toss should choose to bowl first in my opinion.  Writer : Ebrahim yusuf omar

SA20 match 12 review

The Sunrisers have managed to win back-to-back matches against MI Cape Town after they lost their first 2 matches of the SA20. MI Cape Town will be disappointed with their performance as they lost the opportunity to go 5 points clear at the top of the table.  The hero of the day for the Sunrisers was Marco Jansen who scored 66 off 27 that included 3 4s and 7 6s at a strike rate of 244.44. Jansen was excellent coming in with the score on 91-5 after 12.1 overs it looked like the Sunrisers were going to lose this match, but he changed it in no time smashing the MI bowling attack that was made up by Rashid Khan, Rabada, Archer and Sam Curran. Rashid was the one to receive the most damage as Jansen smashed 28 runs of his 4th over, the 16th over of the innings which swung the game in the Sunrisers' way. He then took on Rabada and of the last ball of the 17th over he played a shot similar to what Kohli hit against Haris Rauf during India vs Pakistan match in the T20 world cup. ...

SA20 match 10 review

The Paarl Royals beat the Durban Super Giants by 10 runs in their return fixture after losing to the same opponent a few before in Durban.  This was a close match and going into the last 2 overs with a set Klaasen at the crease for Super Giants it was anyone game. The Royals bowlers held their nerve as they managed to restrict the Super Giants to scoring just 22 runs in the last 2 overs. This meant Super Giants who needed 33 runs in the last 2 overs to win fell 11 runs short of victory giving the Royals a much-needed victory.  The key for the Royals was that they kept on taking throughout the innings which kept them in the game. The Key bowlers were Bjorn Fortuin with 4 overs 3-14 and Evan jones with 4 overs 4-32.  The Super Giants will be disappointed that they couldn't get over the line and will want their batters to put this performance behind them as a one-off and hope they can get back on track from the next match.  The Royals will hope this is the start o...

SA20 match 13 Preview

SA20 match 2nd match today is a repeat of yesterday's encounter at the Wanderers. The Pretoria Capitals vs the Joburg Super Kings at Supersport park Centurion tonight.  The Capitals will be looking to put yesterday's defeat behind them and use their home conditions to get one back at the Super kings.  The Super Kings will want to continue to build some momentum on yesterday's victory and beat their neighbours for a 2nd day straight. Both teams might rotate their fast bowlers as they look to manage their workload going further into the competition.  I think Centurion will be a good pitch to bat on and the team chasing should win this one. News from the toss is Capitals have won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Capitals are unchanged while Super Kings have made 2 changes.  Pretoria Capitals: 1: Phil Salt, 2: Will Jacks, 3: Rilee Rossouw, 4: Theunis de Bruyn, 5: Shane Dadswell, 6: James Neesham, 7: Ethan Bosh, 8: Wayne Parnell, 9: Migael Pretorius, 10: Adil R...

SA20 has another doubleheader today and the first doubleheader is MI Cape Town vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Newlands cricket stadium Cape Town.  This is the return from 2 days ago when the 2 teams played in Gqeberha.   The pitch at Newlands has been on the slower side so far in the 3 games played at Newlands. I'm hoping today's game the pitch will play much better and have something in it for the batsman as it's been tough for them so far batting at Newlands.  I think a score of 170 to 180 will be a good score on this pitch. Today fans will finally get to see Rabada and Archer playing together for the first time. The news from the toss is Sunrisers have won the toss and chose to bowl first.  Team MI Cape Town: 1: Dewal Brevis, 2: Ryan Rickelton, 3: Grant Roelofsen, 4: Rassie Van der Dussen, 5: Sam Curran, 6: Delano Potgieter, 7: George Linde, 8: Rashid Khan, 9: Odean Smith, 10: Kagiso Rabada, 11: Jofra Archer Sunrisers Eastern Cape: 1: Adam Rossington, 2: ...

SA20 match 9 review

The Sunrisers have won their first match of the SA20. They beat MI Cape Town by 4 wickets in a last-over finish. The Sunrisers were excellent in this match as they won the toss and chose to bowl, they were good with the ball from the start with the stars being Magala and Markram. Magala took 2-22 in 4 overs and Markram 2-8 in 2 overs.  Markram was the Star of the night as he added to his contribution with the ball by scoring 50 off 35, including 7 4s at a Strike rate of 142.85. Markram's performance was tremendous as he led from the front and took his team to their first victory in the competition.  Below is a pic of Markram last night's man of the match.  MI Cape Town Goerge Linde was the star with the bat for them as he got them to a competitive total of 158-8. He scored 63 off 28, including 4 4s and 5 6s at a strike rate of 225. Linde efforts were not enough as the MI Cape Town could not defend the total. The match did get close as it went right down to the last ...

Today the Sunrisers Eastern Cape vs MI Cape Town at St Georges Park Gqeberha. The Sunrisers will be looking to get their first win off the competition after losing their first 2 matches.  MI Cape Town will look to win this match to strengthen its grip on the top position on the table. They are looking good so far and have the best squad depth in the competition alongside DSG who have a good side as well.  I'm hoping to see a good pitch at St Georges Park, and I predict the score will be between 180 to 200 for today's game. SA20 has been full of entertainment so far hope to see more this evening.  Below is the Standings for SA20 so far.  Writer : Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 8 review

The Durban Super Giants beat the Paarl Royals by 27 runs to register their 2nd win in a row. The Super Giants started off well as Mayers and Mulder came out to open the batting putting together an opening partnership of 62 in 5.5 overs. The experiment to open with Mulder paid off as he scored 42 off 33 which included 4 4s and 1 six. De Kock coming in at 3 was also good as he scored 57 off 31 which included 5 4s and 4 6s. Klaasen finished the innings with a blast as he scored 50 off 19 that included 1 four and 6 6s. This meant the Super Giants posted 216-4 in their 20 overs.  The Royals in reply lost two key players Buttler and Miller early on in the chase and struggled to get back into the game. Eoin Morgan and Dane Vilas put up a good fight in the middle overs but it wasn't enough to get the Royals back on track for victory as both lost their wickets at moments in the game.  The Super Giants bowlers were good at closing off the game with their death bowling. The win mea...

SA20 Match 8 preview

Durban Super Giants vs Paarl Royals at Kingsmead Stadium Durban today. It's going to be another interesting match at the Kingsmead Stadium, and I expect spinners to play a big role as the pitch will be on the slower side like the previous game here. Both teams will look to continue the winning momentum that they gained from their previous matches and continue winning. I expect a good score to be around the 160 to 170 mark and both teams have the resources to exploit the conditions  The Durban Super Giants have won the toss and chose to bat and have brought in the extra spinner in place of a seamer and the Royals have made one change due to injury to Shamsi  Teams Durban Super Giants: 1 Kyle Mayers, 2: Quinton de Kock, 3: Wiaan Mulder, 4: Heinrich Klaasen, 5: Dwaine Pretorius, 6: Jason Holder, 7: Keemo Paul, 8: Keshav Maharaj, 9: Simon Harmer, 10: Prenelan Subrayen, 11: Reece Topley Paarl Royals: 1: Josh Buttler, 2: Jason Roy, 3: Wihan Lubbe, 4: Dane Vilas, 5: David Mill...

SA20 match 7 review

MI Cape Town bounced back from defeat the previous day in tremendous fashion as Rabada arrived in the SA20 with a bang.  The JSK batting woes continued as their top order failed again and they could only post 105 in their 20 overs which was easily chased by MI Cape Town.  Rabada was the star making his debut for MI Cape Town he took 2-12 from 4 overs. Brevis was the star with the bat scoring 42 of 34 including 2 4s and 3 6s at a strike rate of 123.52. Brevis's strike rate was a bit low, but conditions were not the easiest for batting and he did well to ensure the MI Cape Town team were close to claiming another bonus point win although they fell short.  The Super Kings will have to look at their batting and figure things out before their first home game on Tuesday. They have the option of bringing Neil Brand who is a left-hand top-order batter. Faf could also move up to the opening slot or Leus du Plooy could be moved to the opening slot and have one of Reeza or Ja...

SA20 match 6 review

The Pretoria Capitals beat the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in a high-scoring entertainer at Supersport Park Centurion by 37 runs.  The Star was Will Jacks who scored a superb 92 off 46 that included 7 4s and 8 6s at a strike rate of 200. He also shared in a partnership of 111 of 54 with Thenuis de Bruyn who scored 42 of 23 that included 2 4s and 4 6s at a strike rate of 182.60.  Sisanda Magala and Marco Jansen were the stars with the ball for the Sunrisers as Magala picked up 2-28 from his 4 overs and Jansen picked up 1-31 from his 4 overs.  The rest of the bowlers struggled as the Capitals posted 216-6.  The Sunrisers in reply could only manage to get to 179-7 with Markram 46 of 29 that included 5 4s and 2 6s at a strike rate of 158.62, Marco Jansen 36 of 20 including 2 4s and 3 6s at a strike rate of 180 and Brydon Carse 26 of 13 that included 3 4s 1 6 at a strike rate of 200 were the stars of the SEC innings but it was not enough as one of them needed to convert...

Both teams have won 1 and lost 1 so far in the tournament and will want to win this match to insure they don't fall behind.  This is the 3rd match at Newlands, and it should be interesting to see how the pitch plays. I think a score of 170 to 190 will be a winning score on this pitch. I expect both teams to make changes since they played yesterday so looking to manage player workloads.  This match should be an entertaining one should both teams play to their full potential.  The toss has been won by MI Cape Town and they chose to bowl 1st.  Teams MI Cape Town : 1: Dewald Brevis, 2: Ryan Rickelton, 3: Grant Roelofsen, 4: Rassie Van der Dussen, 5: Sam Curran, 6: Delano Potgieter, 7: Odean smith, 8: Goerge Linde, 9: Rashid Khan, 10: Kagiso Rabada, 11: Waqar Salamkheil Joburg Super King :  1: Faf du Plessis, 2: Janneman Malan, 3: Reeza Hendricks, 4: Kyle Verreynn...

SA20 match 6 preview

SA20 has a doubleheader today that first sees the Pretoria Capitals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Supersport Park Centurion. The 2 teams had a very good match 2 days ago when both teams faced each other at St Goerges Park Gqeberha. The match was high scoring as it saw PC post 193 batting first before SEC in reply scored 170 to hand PC a 23-run win.  The Supersport park centurion should be a better pitch to bat on and should offer something for the fast bowlers. It is an afternoon match and I expect scores to go over 200 in this match. Hoping to see some good entertainment for the matches. I think both teams will make changes looking to add to the fast-bowling department and batting department. Predicted teams Pretoria Capitals: 1: Phil Salt, 2: Will Jacks, 3: Theunis De Bruyn, 4: Rilee Rossouw, 5: Shane Dads Well, 6 James Neesham, 7: Wayne Parnell, 8: Migael Pretorius, 9: Ethan Bosh, 10: Adil Rashid, 11: Anrich Nortje Sunrisers Eastern Cape: 1: Jordan Hermann, 2: JJ Smuts, 3:...

SA20 match 5 review

Durban Super Giants beat MI Cape Town in match 5 of the SA20 by 5 wickets to get their campaign back on track. The Super Giants were excellent with the ball in hand and restricted MI Cape Town to 158 in their 20overs and then chased it down comfortably for a convincing victory.  The MI Cape Town team will be disappointed with their performance with the bat in hand and will be hoping to improve when they take on Super Kings today. They will be happy with their performance with the ball as they put up a good fight in defending 158 but it was not enough as they were short 20 to 25 runs of a good score.  The star of the match was Kyle Mayers for the Durban Super Giants as he scored 34 of 23 to give the Super Giants a good start to their chase and took 2-10 in 2 overs with the ball in hand. This was a good match and there was some entertainment in the match as at one stage it looked like Grant Roloefsan and Goerge Linde would take the match away from the Super Giants similar...

SA20 match 5 preview

Today's 2nd match of the SA20 is MI Cape Town vs Durban Super Giants at the Newlands cricket ground.  The MI Cape Town team will look to gain an early advantage in the tournament and add to their first win and stay on top of the table for now.  The Super Giants will be looking to turn things around after losing their first match and get their campaign on track again.  I think MI Cape Town might go unchanged into this match, they might be tempted to bring Rabada and Livingstone in for this game. The Super Giants on the other hand I think will bring Topley to strengthen their bowling.  Super Giants won the Toss and Chose to bat Teams MI Cape Town: 1: Dewald Brevis, 2: Ryan Rickelton, 3: Rassie Van der Dussen, 4: Grant Roelofsan , 5: Delano Potgieter, 6: Goerge Linde, 7: Sam Curran, 8: Rashid Khan, 9: Duan Jansen, 10: Jofra Archer, 11: Olly Stone  Durban Super Giants : 1: Quinton de Kock, 2: Kyle Mayers,3: Mattew Breetzke, 4: Heinrich Klaasen, 5: Wiaan Mulder...

SA20 match 4 Review

SA20 Match one of the doubleheaders today was a disappointment as the Super Kings batsman failed to put up a fight as they were bowled out for 81 by the Royals bowlers. The most effective of the bowlers was Bjorn Fortuin with 3-16 of his 4 overs.  The Royals bowlers put the Super Kings batsman under pressure from the get-go and never let them back into the match as they kept a tight hold on proceedings as bowled them out for a score way under par at the Paarl ground.  The Super Kings bowlers didn't have much to defend, still, they put in a great effort to make a game out of the 81 runs they had and managed to get 3 wickets. The score was never going to be enough, and the Royals comfortably got over the line and won with a bonus point.  Below are the 3 key figures in Royal's bowling performance Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar

SA20 match 3 review

Pretoria Capitals beat Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 23 runs in match 3 of the SA20.  Both teams got off to slow starts but recovered during the middle with the bat in hand. The Key partnership for Pretoria Capitals was Phil Salt and James Neesham as they put together 77 of 50 to take the Capitals to a competitive target before Parnell and Salt added 36 of 13 to put the finishing touches and give the Capitals a winning total.  The Sunrisers were in early trouble during the chase after their bowlers were poor in closing off the innings as they gave away far too many runs. The Sunrisers had three key Partnerships one between smuts and Abell who put together 65of 39, Stubbs and Smuts who put together 34 of 17 and Abell and Fuller who put together 37 of 19 but it was not enough to get them to victory on the night.  The Standout performers on the night were Phil Salt who scored 77 of 47 at a strike rate of 163.82 hitting 11 4s and Anrich Nortje who had bowling figures of 4 ...
