Proteas vs England 1st ODI review

The Proteas won the 1st ODI against England by 27 runs and claimed 10 very important super league points to keep themselves ahead in the race for the last direct qualification spot.

The Proteas won the toss and chose to bat first posting a competitive 298 with Van der Dussen scoring 111 off 117 and Miller 53 off 56 were the two best batsmen. Sam Curran 3-35 and Olly Stone 1-37 were the best bowlers for England.

In reply, England got off to a flying start as the openers put up a 146 partnership before Malan fell for 59 0ff 55 and that was the start of a tremendous comeback by the Proteas bowlers. Nortje 4-62, Magala 3-46 and Rabada 2-46 picked up wickets regularly in the middle period to trigger a collapse by England and win the match for the Proteas.

Roy was excellent with his 113 off 91 but it was not enough in the end as no other England batsman could get going and get the job finished after the wicket of Roy fell.

This win moves SA closer to a direct qualification spot in the world cup.

SA20 review

The SA20 season 2 has ended with Sunrisers Eastern Cape successfully defending their title to win back-to-back titles. The Sunrisers were the team to beat as they played an excellent brand of cricket and dominated throughout the tournament winning 7 matches and losing 2 with 1 no result to top the table in the league stage. Proteas vs West Indies 1st test review

Protea's new era started off very well as they scored 314-8 on day 1 of the first test of this series. The day started with Proteas winning the toss and choosing to bat first. The Proteas got off to a great start as Elgar and Markram batted through too Lunch as they put together an opening Partnership of 99 in the morning session. The afternoon session was again dominated by Proteas as a further 107 added for the loss of 1 wicket. The wicket that fell during the afternoon session was that of Elgar for a well-played 71 off 118. Markram and the debutant De Zorzi then continued to bat untroubled as they put together a partnership of 78 off 127 before De Zorzi ran himself out and this triggered a collapse by Proteas as they lost 7 wickets in the last session of the day.
