Proteas vs England 1st ODI

The all-very important ODI series for Proteas gets on the way at Mangaung Oval Bloemfontein. This is a must-win series for the Proteas if they are to qualify directly for the World cup later this year.

The Proteas have hit the reset button with a new coach and some fresh innovative ideas coming into the camp. The squad looks balanced and very strong.  The depth this squad provides for each department is what makes it more exciting. The biggest question will be Malan or Reeza and Magala or Ngidi in the starting 11.

England's side does not have all 1st choice players but it's still a strong squad and with the brand of cricket they are playing at the moment it won't be easy for Proteas to beat them. England should be the favourites to win this series.

I think the conditions at the Mangaung Oval Bloemfontein will make this series more interesting. With the heat wave around in Northern Cape I expect the pitch to be dry and offer spinners some assistance.

I hope the groundsmen can produce a good sporting pitch that provides an even balance between bat and ball.

Predicted Teams:

Proteas: Quinton De Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, Rassie Van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Sisanda Magala, Kagiso Rabada , Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi

England: Jason Roy, Ben Duckett, Dawid Malan, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley

Proteas vs India 2nd test Day 1 review

The second test match between Proteas and India kicked off on a high note with the hosts putting up a horrendous batting performance on day 1. The Proteas team won the toss and elected to bat first, but they failed to make the most of the opportunity as the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the home team's batting line-up bowling them out for 55. Mohammed Siraj was the chief destroyer with 6 wickets for 15 runs in 9 overs. He was equally supported by Mukesh and Bumrah both taking 2 wickets each.  The Indian team lost their first wicket early on, with Jaiswal departing for a duck. The rest of the top-order batsmen struggled to get going as well, and the team was bowled out for 153. However, a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Markram helped the home team to 62-3 at stumps to steady the ship.  It was an excellent day for bowlers on both sides as 23 wickets fell for 270 runs.  The Proteas bowlers, led by Rabada and Lungi Ngidi, were impressive after t...

Pakistan vs Australia 2nd test Day 1 review

Australia and Pakistan faced off in the second Test match at MSG. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors started well with opening bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza getting the ball to move off the seam. However, the Australian batter struck back with a good opening partnership of 90 runs. Australia finished the day at 187/3 off 66 overs as rain played spoilsport, with Hasan Ali, Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal the pick of the bowlers. It was a tough day for the Pakistani bowlers as they struggled to cause Australian bowlers for long enough periods at a time, but they will look to bounce back on Day 2. The Australian batsman will be aiming to put up a big total for their bowlers to bowl too. Overall, it was an exciting day of Test cricket and fans can look forward to more action in the coming days.  Writer: Ebrahim Yusuf Omar
